Janny de Grauw
Janny graduated as a DVM from Utrecht University in 2007. She then started a PhD project focusing on molecular monitoring of equine joint disease and defended her thesis cum laude in 2010.
She next took up a post-doc position in a translational research consortium, studying the applicability of biomaterials for the treatment of human and animal osteoarthritis.
Increasingly interested in veterinary pain and its treatment, she embarked on a residency in anaesthesiology in 2012. She passed her board exams in 2016 to become a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia. Janny is the author or co-author of over 20 peer-reviewed scientific papers and more than 40 conference and scientific meeting abstracts. She regularly acts as a peer reviewer for various human and veterinary scientific journals, and co-authored a chapter in the latest edition of the book Joint Disease in the Horse.
Janny is currently an assistant professor of clinical anaesthesiology at the Utrecht University Department of Equine Sciences, and combines her hours in theatre and the ICU ward with a passion for clinical research.
