Carsten graduated from Munich University in 1994 and went on to do an internship at Illinois Equine Hospital.
From 1995 to 1996 he was a resident in large animal surgery at Purdue University before he transferred to The Ohio State University where he finished his residency and obtained a Masters degree in veterinary clinical sciences. He returned to Germany in 1999 and passed the board certifying exam of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons ( ACVS) in 2000. He is also a member of the European College of veterinary Surgeons (ECVS). Since 2001 he is in private practice and he owns and operates Kottenforst Equine Hospital near Bonn in the West of Germany. Carsten has a strong interest in surgery, orthopedics and sports medicine. He has been the team vet for the German three day Eventing team for the last 10 years. Carsten has been breeding sport horses for over twenty years and on his days off work he enjoys hunting.
