Foreword by the Chairman
It is with great pleasure that I, as chairman and on behalf of the organizing committee, may announce our upcoming European Veterinary Conference the Voorjaarsdagen 2018, which will be organized from April 11th until April 13th in the Fokker Terminal in The Hague. Do you master the art of veterinary science? This 51th edition promises to be the greatest veterinary event of the year, don’t miss it!
On Wednesday April 11th we will start with a preconference day. The preconference day will consist of a management program organized by VPM as well as different masterclasses.
On Thursday April 12th and Friday April 13th there will be an extensive scientific program, that in all areas (companion animal, equine, farm animal, veterinarian technicians, food and consumer product safety authority) of the veterinary profession offers a grand choice.
We feature many international world class speakers and participants come from many different countries (no less than 23 different countries were represented last year!). Approximately 500 veterinarians and veterinary technicians 1,500 representing the full variety of the Dutch veterinary society will visit the Voorjaarsdagen. For this special 51th Edition you can be assured that the scientific program will be of international standing again!
The last 2 years we were hosted by the Fokker Terminal. Both participants and exhibitors are very enthusiastic about this venue. The heart of the building is an impressive 9-meter-high airplane hangar of 35 meters wide and 68 meters long. The roof has a combined steel and glass construction which provides beautiful day light. We are convinced that it will be a wonderfull environment again, to combine CPD with catching up with the industry and fellow vets.
If you ask me why my heart is beating for the Voorjaarsdagen, then I have to tell you that the love for the Congress started in my college years. As a student we met "real" veterinarians, we heard international speakers presenting difficult and interesting cases and we had a great party afterwards. The fact that you can participate in this every year as a practicing veterinarian, makes that you get a deep bond with the congress, your colleagues, the organization and the exhibitors who help make it all possible.
Although we cherish our long history, we as organizing committee, tend to modernize every year and provide both the participant and the exhibitor the best possible experiences during our conference. The motto: master the art of veterinary science is a goal we all should pursue. I would warmly like to invite you all to come and experience our upcoming European Veterinary Conference the Voorjaarsdagen 2018!
