Job Stumpel gained a MSc in Biology and a DVM in 2008, both at Utrecht University.
He worked at the exotic animal department of the Utrecht University companion animal hospital, as a junior lecturer, intern and resident in herpetological medecine (ECZM). Part of this programme was performed at the exotic animal ward of the Royal (Dick) School for Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh, Scotland. Since 2012, he has been working as a veterinarian for Dierenpark Emmen (Emmen Zoo), which transformed into WILDLANDS Adventure Zoo Emmen in 2016. Here he is responsible for the veterinary care of the large and very diverse zoological collection. He is also a curator at the zoo and he manages the EAZA endangered species programme (EEP) of the White-handed Gibbon. In his free time, Job succesfully keeps and breeds rare tortoise and turtle species.
