Karin graduated from Utrecht University (faculty of Veterinary Medicine) in 2008.
After a short period in general practice she returned to Utrecht for an internship at the Department of Clinical Science of Companion Animals. In November 2009 she started her residency in Animal Reproduction (ECAR). Her special interests in this field are canine reproductive physiology and contraceptive methods. Together with a research group with colleagues from different departments (Infectious Diseases and Immunology, Medical Biochemistry and Clinical Science of Companion Animals), she is involved in several research projects, which lead to her PhD (March 2017) with a thesis entitled: “Regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis in dogs: it starts with a kiss…”. Besides research, she participates in the reproduction outpatient clinic at the University Clinic for Companion Animals (UKG, Utrecht) and in the educational program of veterinary students.
